Adding Calendar Days vs. Weekdays
- Calendar Days: Simply moves forward by the exact number of days entered, regardless of whether they are weekdays or weekends.
- Weekdays (Business Days): Skips Saturdays and Sundays. For instance, adding 5 weekdays starting on Friday will advance you to the following Friday (as Saturday and Sunday are bypassed).
Add Days Example
If you start on Friday, June 12, 2026 and add 10 days:
- Adding 10 Calendar Days: target is Monday, June 22, 2026.
- Adding 10 Weekdays: target is Friday, June 26, 2026 (skips 4 weekend days).
Frequently Asked Questions
Are public holidays taken into account when adding weekdays?
No, our business weekday option skips standard Saturdays and Sundays only. It does not account for local, national, or industry-specific holiday closures.
How do you compute timezone variations?
The calculations are done relative to the local date entered, strictly within your browser. There is no UTC-shift, ensuring the resulting date does not slip because of timezone offsets.
Can I add negative days to go backwards?
For subtract calculations, we recommend using our dedicated Subtract Days from Date tool. However, this form input enforces positive values to keep project and task calculations straightforward.
Is there a limit on the number of days I can add?
This tool allows you to add up to 999,999 days, supporting scheduling timelines decades or centuries into the future.
